About Joe Galotti
Just a few years ago I was a journalism major at Stony Brook University, with aspirations of becoming a sports writer. A lot can change in a few years.
After realizing that sports writing jobs in New York were becoming scarce, and even some of the best sports writers in the industry were losing jobs, I decided it was time to embark on a new career path. So in June of 2017, I joined the Answering Legal marketing team. I soon took over as the primary writer for the company’s blog site, and manager of their social media pages.
Writing
Learning how to write for some of the smartest people in the world —lawyers— was no easy process. Fortunately, Stony Brook’s School of Journalism was able to inadvertently prepare me for the challenge. As an aspiring journalist I learned how to effectively frame and tell stories, properly research and inform myself on topics I was unfamiliar with, cultivate relevant questions, and work quickly while maintaining a high degree of accuracy.
As of today, I have authored nearly one hundred posts for the Answering Legal blog site, with topics ranging from ways attorneys can better stay organized, to five legal podcasts lawyers need to be listening to, to how attorneys can avoid becoming overwhelmed by their work.
Marketing Work
Over the past year, I’ve helped launch Answering Legal’s “Let’s Talk Legal Marketing” initiative, which includes social media discussion groups on Facebook and LinkedIn, and a blog series featuring advice from many of today’s top legal marketers.
Lawyers typically receive limited to no training on the client acquisition process during their law school days, and as a result, struggle to generate and capture new leads once they start running firms of their own. As a marketer, I believe I have a lot to offer when it comes to helping lawyers better advertise their firms and connect with new clients. This is why in November of 2018, I authored my first marketing eBook, “How Attorneys Are Marketing Their Firms in the Digital Age: A Survey Article”. The book is full of advice on how to become more well-rounded legal marketer and thrive in today’s online-dominated marketing world.
Personal Life
When I’m not writing, I’m usually passionately following my Yankees, Jets, Rangers, and Knicks. I’m also an obsessive comedy fan, big animal lover, and can be found at the beginning of every work day with an iced coffee from Dunkin Donuts in hand.
