About MAP Communications:
MAP Communications has operated their call centers since 1991 and is headquartered in Chesapeake, VA. They are one of the largest answering services in the business, operating at over 5 100 percent U.S.-based locations.
MAP Communications offers answering services at a much less expensive rate than its competition, owing to its over 30 years in business and huge call center. They operate in bulk, providing less expensive services to businesses of all kinds and sizes. This can lead to some inconsistencies in their answering services, as we’ll discuss later.n
Features
MAP Communications hours of operation
MAP Communications answers phones 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, for all of its customers, regardless of which pricing package they’re using. This is a great way for smaller businesses to get overnight phone coverage for less than most answering services charge. With 24/7 coverage, you’ll never have to worry about callers reaching a voicemail, and you’ll get a message after every call that you can read in their MAP portal.
MAP Communications answering service protocols
MAP Communications includes full customization with each of their packages, allowing you to provide a unique greeting and script for every phone call. They can take messages, transfer calls, and fill out forms for your callers while on the phone. They also have a “roster service” which can route calls to specific departments or staff members at certain hours of the day.
How MAP Communications works
MAP Communications boasts a quick setup time and a 7-day free trial that begins approximately 24-48 hours after you sign up. They’ll give you a dedicated number to forward your calls to, as well as an 800 number to use in your marketing and branding that will go directly to their call center. That number will also function as your dedicated support line, when you call in from the phone forwarded to it.
MAP Communications pricing
MAP Communications pricing used to be rather complicated, but it has been simplified in recent years. They offer custom quotes, but their most common pricing packages work like so:
- $49/month for 0 minutes/month, with an overage charge of $1.37/minute
- $179/month for 125 minutes/month, with an overage charge of $1.30/minute
- $339/month for 250 minutes/month, with an overage charge of $1.28/minute
- $649/month for 500 minutes/month, with an overage charge of $1.28/minute
These prices are considerably lower than packages from other companies in the industry. The lowest package is a pay-as-you-go plan, where you pay $49 a month for access to their receptionists and then pay $1.37 for every minute used.
MAP Communications reviews
MAP Communications answering service reviews can be difficult to find, as they don’t use Google’s reviews. Instead, they use Trustpilot, a site that allows you to pay to better acquire reviews for your company.
Their positive reviews praise their setup process and their support team. Negative reviews, on the other hand, criticize surprise fees like holiday charges and minute usage from their receptionists.
Specialized legal answering services
MAP Communications can be a good solution for businesses that need their calls answered inexpensively. But for law firms, a specialized legal answering service like Answering Legal is a much better solution.
Think of it this way: a single bad experience erases the memory of dozens of good ones. If one of your clients calls a non-specialized answering service and reaches someone who doesn’t know how to handle a legal consumer’s call, they’re going to come away with a profoundly negative opinion of your firm.
Because our receptionists only answer for lawyers, we here at Answering Legal can train them to be experts in that task. They receive months of training in legal terminology, processes, and intake, all so that we can provide your callers with the experience they expect from your law firm.
